In order to raise the profile of a closed-end fund, Frances Davies previously led a project to transform the investment mandate from one of long-only, conventional global equities to a concentrated high-alpha brief which gave the fund manager flexibility to go short of shares he disliked in order to maximise the opportunity to benefit from strongly-held views. This process involved detailed consultation with the company's shareholders and an active PR exercise as well as the necessary documentation.
